The Author

Anna Westerlund has always felt the urge to draw, paint and create using her hands. However, it wasn’t until later on in life that she realised her professional path would involve pursuing a career in the arts.

Born to a Swedish father and a Portuguese mother, she grew up ‘between’ two countries, having contacted, from an early age, with many and different cultures and forms of human expression.

Travelling has always played a huge role in her life. Over the ten years she worked as a model, she visited and lived in a number of countries, embracing every opportunity to wander around looking for museums and art galleries, thus quenching her ‘thirst’ for creativity.

When she realised this was a driving force in her life, she decided to put her studies in Marketing and Advertising on hold and to enrol in the ceramics course at AR.CO, which became her passion. The same year, she was invited to represent Portugal in the International Ceramics Biennale in Denmark, fully devoting herself  to her work as a ceramist.

Early 2012 she decided to open an homonymous atelier where she now spends most of her time. A proud mother of four, Anna Westerlund’s everyday life means ‘juggling’ work and family life, always on the lookout for new sources of inspirations and creative challenges.

Anna Westelund’s brand has already had pieces exhibited at the MOMA shop in New York and the ‘Portugal Convida’ visual arts exhibit in Barcelona. Her work, which has stood out internationally both for its simple design and distinctive features, can be found at her online shop and selected concept stores.
